In this tutorial, we will go step by step through the process of creating a high-detailed texture for a grenade asset.


The following topics are covered:

We start in Maya by preparing the 3D model and move on to Mari where we set up the project correctly.

We look at how to work with the material system in Mari and how to create procedural masks.

We also have a look at painting Hero-details for a more realistic result.

After exporting the textures we go back to Maya and set up a flexible master shader to art direct the asset or the final rendering


The tutorial is intended for beginners or anyone interested in migrating from Substance Painter to Mari.
